The first model certified by Columbia Aircraft (formerly Lancair Certified) as LC40-550FG and marketed under the name of Columbia 300.

While the airframe is basically the same with later models, the primary distinguishing characteristic of the 300 model is that it still uses vacuum instruments and six-pack avionics. Thanks to the spartan configuration it also enjoys a large useful weight relative to future models.

The 300 is normally aspirated and powered by TCM IO-550-N engine. It has a MTOW of 3400 lbs and MLW of 3230 lbs.
